Foothills Market: Market Is Open - May 5
We have a few new items to add to the market this week. The kale is finally big enough to pick, as are the mustard greens. We also have Pac Choy, which is a new crop for us but looks really tasty.
If you’d like to order from the market this week, remember to place your order before noon on Friday to give us time to pick and package your vegetables on Friday evening. Then we’ll see you at the farmers’ market Saturday morning 9-11.
Eat something fresh this week!
The Cumming Harvest - Closed: My Daily Bread
From Dabrielle Wills of My Daily Bread.
“For those who don’t know yet, Bruce is in the hospital awaiting open heart surgery.
He passed out at Suwanee market and fell to the concrete suffering a 4 inch gash to his head, a concussion, and lots of bruising. When all the confusion was sorted out by the caridologist, he actually had stopped breathing and his defribulator went off 4 times to shock him back.
After a heart cath, they discovered a calcified block directly from his aorta to the large portion of his arterial feed that is 80% blocked and cannot be stinted. The only option is open heart surgery.
They are awaiting the plavix to leave his system so they can operate. He will have a long road to recovery including a month bed rest and 3 of cardiac rehab.
They are hoping to do the surgery on Monday, but may be able to do it on Friday if things move faster with the plavix.
Brandon and Tarra are keeping everything going and I am baking after I leave the hospital so The Cumming Harvest is okay for this week.
I have cancelled Suwanee for next week and do not know whether we will be doing any markets next week. I wanted to give everyone a heads up as I need Brandon to be with Bruce too.
Once he is home, we will be on a regular schedule, though some items might not be on the menu.
Bruce LOVES doing the coops and I know he will miss you all, but he is grounded for awhile.
We will do our best to get back up and running after his surgery.
Meanwhile we covet your prayers.
Blessings,
Dabrielle"
Dabrielle let me know this morning that she and their son Brandon will be able to bake for us this week but she feels sure she won’t be listing next week. She would like you all to be able to order what you need and wanted me to make sure you knew what was going on.
Seedtime and Harvest: Spring has Sprung!
April showers bring May flowers.
We are on target! Beautiful rains and now days of sunshine. Birds are singing and spring is in full force.
We’ve eaten our first few meals of asparagus. Yesterday was our first kale spinach salad. Delectable!! And today we plan on a radish sandwich.
Welcome Spring and all your deliciousness!!
Suwanee Whole Life Co-op: Update: prayers for Bruce
Thank you for all your responses and prayers for Bruce from My Daily Bread. I’ve been in contact with Bruce’s wife, Dabrielle, and she is so grateful for your thoughts and prayers.
This morning Bruce had a heart cath and the doctors discovered that he has a calcified heart blockage of 80%. His only option is open heart surgery. Also, due to the fall yesterday at the warehouse he has a fractured skull and some brain bleeding. Please, please continue your prayers Bruce and his family.
I will continue to keep you all updated as I hear more news.
Blessings and Gratitude,
Nora
