Joyful Noise Acres Farm:  The market is open for ordering.

Good morning to all!
What a glorious week we have had with this beautiful weather. I can’t wait to get out and play in it today. I hope you have plans to be out this weekend and soak up the rays.

We are wrapping up most everything on the farm this coming week. We processed the last of the pigs and the freezer is stuffed with all kinds of goodness. We have chorizo sausage, Italian sausage, spare ribs, boneless pork chops, bacon and more. We also have more Tenderloin Roasts for your holiday needs. We will be keeping Cherokee Market stocked with our pork after this market closes so you can get your pasture raised pork fix when you get your milk.

Speaking of milk, if you are not going to make the move to Cherokee Market, Sam can bring your jars this week for you to pick up on Wednesday. If you do not want your jars, he will buy them from you. If you are continuing to order milk from Cedar Rock Dairy, bring your jars as usual this week and I will move them to Cherokee Market for pick-up on Tuesday. The milk will be delivered on Tuesdays, usually by early afternoon. I will give you all the details on picking up milk and dropping off jars, on Monday.

Thank you for supporting your local farmers and artisans.

Champaign, OH:  Our House

Our house it has a crowd…
There’s always something happening…
And it’s usually quite loud…
(Our House-Madness)

Cue the 80s club girl in me!

But, really…I have come to view this market, this weblog, this local family, all part of a happy home. And, while fun, and rowdy, and always promoting the local front, there are always those pesky housekeeping tasks that need to be done.

So, tonight, this message goes out to the lovely customers AND vendors of this little local market of love…

First up…we need updated information!! Address and phone number updates are now needed to keep us all organized, and in the know!!

I have noticed that I am getting outdated addresses and phone numbers no longer in use. And, while are updating those, or at least checking those, take a look at any other information that may need updating.

Vendors…update quantities of product, please! The customers want to order but sometimes we get a tiny bit behind on the updates!

New items on the market!

Vegetables – Sunchokes – Sunchokes can be used in place of potatoes in any recipe but are best when roasted, and can be served raw in salads, boiled and mashed or pureed into a soup. Serve raw sliced Sunchokes in a crudité with creamy or oily dips.

Vegetables – Kale ’ Black Tuscan ’ Perfect for making kale chipsAKA Lacinato, Dinosaur Kale. This Heirloom variety comes from the Tuscan hills of Italy, where it can be found in nearly every garden. Due to its dark green color, it is likely the most nutritious of all the true kales.

Vegetables – Snap Bean ‘Fortex’- his stringless French filet pole bean is scrumptious when fresh or cooked, the rich, sweet flavor is a welcome treat. Great for stir fry or a side dish.

Vegetables – Rhubarb – ‘Victoria’ – This heirloom variety has tender stalks which are mostly green with a hint of red. Sweeter and milder than other varieties and has been around for 175 years. Rhubarb is technically a vegetable, we tend to treat it as a fruit, because our view of the plant has been shaped by the sweet and sour desserts of English origin. But beyond England, rhubarb is used in a wide range of dishes.

Cilantro – Fresh – Also known as coriander herb, cilantro contains an impressive list of nutrients, essential oils and anti-oxidants that are required for optimal health. It’s a classic addition to salsa as well as adding a finishing touch to chili and curries.

Veggies – Cabbage ‘Napa’- Chinese Napa Cabbage is good raw in salads and slaw. It has a mild flavor and crunchy texture. It can be cooked by boiling or steaming to be eaten as a side dish or as an ingredient added to various Asian dishes. It is also pickled with spices to make Kimchi. This Cabbage can be also be used as a substitute in any recipe that uses Cabbage.

Blondeez Pumpkin Pie- This blonde brownie is for lovers of rich flavors of fall. The warm flavor of cinnamon spice swirled with organic pumpkin is delicious. Our gourmet blondies are rich and buttery, and made with the highest quality ingredients!

Market News

My Daily Bread will not be on the Market this week
My Daily Bread will be listing their items every other week. They will be back next week.

Lizzie’s Pantry has added Organic Buckwheat and Organic Quinoa to the market. They also have their 5 Gallon Plastic Bucket w/E-Z Open Lid and Gamma Lids ON SALE this week!

Southern Essentials finally has more of their popular Lavender with Activated Charcoal soap back on the market. Charcoal and soap-are two words that don’t really seem to go together. Activated charcoal(a specially processed form of carbon) draws impurities and toxins out of the skin, helping to relieve acne and other skin problems. Fragrance Free Activated Charcoal soap is also available.

Buffalo Gal Grassfed Beauty has added EYE REVIVE – Herbal Tallow Eye Treatment. The skin around our eyes can lose its elasticity and collagen more easily than other areas of the face. That’s why we usually see the effects of aging or dietary and environmental stressors around our eyes first. The skin is thinner and more prone to damage. Therefore, it is beneficial to use a product that supports collagen production and helps this skin stay hydrated and smooth, thus reducing dark shadows, puffing, sagging, and the appearance of fine lines. * We created EYE REVIVE, something absolutely UNIQUE to the skincare market, to seriously nourish and support the skin around the eyes so that it maintains its thickness and generates more collagen! AND we use only real, whole food based ingredients — THE BEST WE CAN FIND! No botanical oils are used in this formulation, the only plants are from herbs and essential oils.
